Summary
We have changed some specifications for adding ads to allow various ad expressions in Display Ads. Changes are as follows:

Display ads
■Title omission in carousel ads
Previously, carousel ads always showed the full title of the ad when the ad was delivered, but part of the title may be omitted from the ad after the scheduled date.

■URL punycode conversion using multibyte characters
When multibyte characters such as Japanese are used in the following items, only the domain part is automatically converted to punycode (half-width alphanumeric code).

  • Final URL
  • Smartphone final URL
[Comments]
  • The changes apply only to creating or editing ads in the Campaign Management Tool. The import feature of the Campaign Management Tool, applying for a new ad account in the Campaign Management Tool, and adding ads via the Campaign Editor, Yahoo! JAPAN Ads API, and Yahoo! JAPAN Ads Script are not eligible.
  • After entering the URL, the URL converted to punycode appears in the input field.

■Adding a maximum number of characters for descriptions in carousel ads
In carousel ads, the maximum number of characters you can enter in the description is changed as follows:

(Before) 38 characters
(After) 40 characters

■Adding button wording for responsive ads
Add the following to the button wording you can select when creating a responsive ad:

  • Gameplay
  • Use the app
  • Listen to music
■Lower restrictions for adding ads and improved display for the goal campaign "App promotion"
(1) Lower restrictions for adding ads
The following changes are made to the URLs set as final URLs in ads for the campaign goal of "App promotion":

(Before) URLs of the app stores (*)
(After) URLs of app stores (*) or URLs of web pages
* App store URL domain: “itunes.apple.com,” “play.google.com,” and “apps.apple.com”

[Comments]

  • The difference between a web page URL and an app store URL when the final URL is set to a web page URL is as follows:
    • The domain of the web page entered appears as the display URL.
    • SKAdNetwork measurement is not available even if "Set" is selected in the "SKAdNetwork" in the Campaign settings.
  • When “Set” is selected in the "SKAdNetwork" in the campaign settings, the destination when clicking on an ad may be the app store page with the "app ID/package name" set in the campaign, regardless of the final URL set in the ad.
(2) Improvement of the display URL item
When you enter an app store URL in the final URL in a campaign goal “App promotion” ad, you can check the display URL that is automatically set on the page on the screen.
The URL automatically set as the display URL (the domain of the app store corresponding to the “App OS” set for the campaign) remains unchanged. You can’t change the value.
