Changes to Advertising Data Usage Standards (Protective measures for minors will begin to apply to Search Ads)

March 28, 2024: The Standards became effective for Search Ads.
March 12, 2024: The effective date for Search Ads was decided.
February 24, 2023: The effective date for Display Ads was decided.
February 8, 2023: The effective date postponed due to system issues.

  • Start date for each ad service:
    • Display Ads: February 27, 2023
    • Search Ads: March27, 2024

Changes

2-1. Protective measures for minors
Age targeting and interest-based behavioral targeting for users under the age of 18 will no longer be available.

2-2. Measures for Act on Improving Transparency and Fairness of Digital Platforms (TFDPA)
There will be no direct impact.
